SUMMARY:Regional Artist Showcase
DESCRIPTION:The Butler County Arts Council is excited that more performers will share their talents at this week’s Regional Artist Showcase Sunday 2 pm February 4\, 2018. The event will be in St. Luke’s United Methodist Church at 620 D Street in David City. Carol Fuxa will accompany vocalists Grace Moravec and Hannah Moravec. Other vocalists include Gabrielle Comte\, Julie Humlicek\, Nancy Humlicek\, Kelcie Keeling\, and Anna Nolan. Leo Kovar will share some of his original poetry. Will Heller and the group of Madelaine Comte\, Sarah Juranek\, Josh Roh\, Travis Roh\, and Will Yindrick will share speech presentations. Following the performance there will be a reception hosted by St. Luke’s UMW in the social room downstairs. \nButler County Arts Council also invites artists to loan their art pieces to display during April 2018. High school art teachers are asked to contact Anna Nolan with their student works selected for this annual art show. These items will be on display in the Hruska Memorial Library in David City. Donors should include an attached tag that identifies the artist\, age or grade if appropriate\, and medium/media. At the end of April the art will be picked up by the donors. Artwork considered by their art teachers to be the best in student art is an important part of this display. \nThe BCAC partners with the Bone Creek Museum of Agrarian Art and encourages those who have not seen the new exhibitions at 575 E Street to take advantage of the free admission and view the new artwork gifted to the permanent collection and the art of New York artist Harry Orlyk. Visit www.bonecreek.org to learn more. The arts council season is made possible thanks to donations from many sources. The Nebraska Arts Council\, a state agency\, supports this season through its matching grants program funded by the Nebraska Legislature\, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Nebraska Cultural Endowment. Visit www.nebraskaartscouncil.org for information on how the Nebraska Arts Council can assist your organization\, or how you can support the Nebraska Cultural Endowment.

The cantata “Night of the Father’s Love” also described as “The Awe and Mystery of God With Us” is a wonderful arrangement by Pepper Choplin beginning with the coming of the Lord with soloist Kelcie Keeling. In another of the eight movements soprano Nancy Humlicek shares “Angels Are Making Their Rounds”. Other soloists in “Seeking the King” include Will Heller\, Tom McCracken and Vern Dvorak. Narration this year will be shared by eight members of the choir. The concluding number with all invited to participate will be the Hallelujah Chorus by George Frederick Handel. Following the performance all are invited downstairs to the reception Jacquie Masek hosts annually for this major event. Free will donations at the door support this annual Christmas concert. \nThese and other opportunities to experience the arts would not be possible without the support of many organizations and individuals.
